And now I've gotten my icons updated on DW and made sure entries will crosspost, I think I'm set. Though I probably should have done this months ago because now DW is missing a few entries but I can't remember how to fix that so I suppose it'll just stay that way.

I'm getting back in to looking up some writing comms - I've already signed up for [community profile] hc_bingo and I'm looking at a few others. I miss doing those and a lot of the ones I used to get involved with for weekly prompts don't seem to be active anymore, which is a shame since it looks like at least one of them was active up until just a few weeks ago. Those comms were always great for the muse!

Meh, I'll figure it out. Meanwhile, I'm slowly getting my VM fic posted at AO3 though I'm just posting them as is and including the original post date in a note. It's a bit fun to see how my writing has changed over the years, considering I wrote those back in 2005/2006!

Happy Friday, folks! I'm going to bed. I have to be up in like 5 hours but I got caught up in icons and writing a new Captain Canary (or rewriting the start - I can't find the notebook with the original start). Oops.

So, I got a call from one of the managers at my new job and found out that I was the top seller in the office with over $1000 in sales. That means I've hit my first promotion already and they're looking to see how I'm going to be ending what they call the fast start competition. Thing is, I have one person who has agreed to an appointment. The three that I had, they didn't really give me many referrals. And the referrals that I've got haven't answered the phone. The family that I talked to about setting up an appointment hasn't followed through (though I have to check my email since one has to do this over email anyway) and the other family member completely ignored me (which was awesome, yeah, since I knew he had his phone since he was texting my mom when I was texting him).

So, I don't know how this is going to go. My stepdad still wants to see the hunting knives and my mom said that his sister sounded interested (and she's looking for her own place so she'll need kitchen stuff, I figure) and [profile] starrydreaming said yes to an appointment (because she's awesome and knows that I get base pay for even having an appointment) but everyone else is pretty much avoiding setting a time up or they want prices first and don't care when I say that that comes during the appointment.

I'm frustrated since I can do demos over the phone using the internet and people can get things that way but that doesn't mean much when calls aren't being answered, etc. We're only allowed to advertise a certain way (like no taking out a billboard but I can make fliers and business cards, etc.) so I might give that a shot because this? This isn't working.

Wish me luck on getting more names or at least getting some people to actually agree to either a phone demo (it's watching videos, that's not even hard, darn it!) or a demo in person.

To top it off, we've got a team meeting tonight and I'm sick. These team meetings last 3 hours because the last part of them is usually getting on our phones and calling people about appointments. I'm hoping with the fact that I'm losing my voice that I can get out of there a bit early. Heck, maybe there's someone out there that needs to buy a gift for someone that's, I don't know, getting their own place or getting married or something. I can hope, right?

So, yeah, wish me luck, cross your fingers and all that!

Agggh! Wish me luck guys - cross your fingers, toes, say a prayer, send good thoughts, whatever.

I've got a job interview on Monday at noon with a place that's right here in the same town that I live in. Well, at least the interview will be. I'm not even entirely sure what the job is since the ad didn't give details but it's for a marketing place so we'll see.

It just feels like a good start to the new year, especially since I just put in the application yesterday and they called me this morning. So, I'm hopeful. And I'm applying at the hospital too - a friend of my parents told me to apply and then to let her know when I do. If it makes me more money, that'd be amazing.

So, like I said, wish me luck for both of those!
blue_icy_rose: (Default)
And it's complete with rambling and whatever I could remember. Which is hopefully not all scrambled but you never know. We'll skip my rambling now (Lord knows, I didn't in the rest of this) and just get straight to the post.

Eyecon! )

If you read all of this, I think you should treat yourself to a cookie. Or alcohol. Or both. :D Whatever, treat yourself to something!

Ooh pretty!

So, I forgot to make this announcement a few weeks ago! LOL.

I cut my hair, shorter than I normally do. And I got layers which I don't do usually. But I saw the picture and I waaaaaaanted them. So I pointed and she cut, cut, cut away and voila! Jagged layers, which I really kind of love. It's already growing out though - curse my hair for growing so fast!

Also, I'm officially a friend only to the guy I like at work. How do I know this? A few of us were joking around and he goes, "Ah, typical woman thing!" and then LOOKS AT ME for agreement. Um, hi, when did I change genders? Which I asked and then he gave this embarrassed laugh and apologized and said he was just waiting to get hit and I rolled my eyes. So there ya go.

In other news, we got our Christmas tree yesterday! Went up to the mountains and cut it down and all. It's still not up though because it turns out that it's too big. Oops. Whatever, we had fun! :) Yesterday ended with me and my brother watching The Outsiders and then Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

And I've been told it's not too late to post wishlists so, yes, I'll be posting mine today.

I've got a friend who's got a son with Autism and she wants to check out what both Obama and McCain have to say about it, etc. So if you guys have any links or anything that I could pass on, that would be awesome.

Thanks!

So, see, I'm not dead! Woohoo me!

Anyway, here's what's been going on with me lately:

As of July 15th, my mother became a married woman. *points at self* And you're reading the journal of the maid of honor. It was sort of last minute since the wedding was supposed to be later in the month but they changed it so his parents could come (and so it would be before my grandparents took off for Hawaii for the next few weeks) but then his mom ended up in the hospital for a night and then his dad got sick so they still didn't get to go.

I've got a face to face interview coming up for a job I've been hoping to get. I passed the first four steps (at home assessment, tour/simulation of calls/assessment, phone interview, and background check) and so now I've got the face to face to set up. Unfortunately I didn't get the call until too late so instead of setting up the interview on Friday like the woman hoped, I'll have to call Tuesday since she won't be in on Monday. Wish me luck!

I saw the midnight showing of The Dark Knight on Friday and it was fantastic! I loved the movie and it lived up to expectations. Frankly, I think it left the expectations and hype in the dust. (Seriously, I built this movie up since I've been looking forward to it since they announced they were making it after Batman Begins came out.) It was so much fun! People were cheering and clapping in the theater and there were so many people who love comics there. One guy dressed up as Batman (I was shocked it wasn't more than one) and it wasn't even the costume that looks like the cartoon/comic ones. No, this one looked like the one in the movie. It was a damn good costume. There were quite a few Jokers - one who looked like the comic/cartoon version complete with purple suit and green hair and the make up, while the rest had the make up that resembled this new Joker's. One guy dressed like the Joker from this movie too. (It was really fun to see Batman and Joker at the concession stand together - hee!)

I highly recommend the movie if you haven't seen it. My friend who didn't even like the first one and isn't a huge Batman fan saw it because I talked her ear off the next day and text messaged me saying that it was the best movie ever. So, yes, go see it! (Much darker than the first movie, just as a warning.)

I've been asked already, quite a few times, what my opinion of Heath Ledger's performance was and here it is: he knocked it out of the park and he's one of the reasons I liked the movie so much. I've always known the Joker was a villain and that he's supposed to be pretty creepy (think about it - he causes people to laugh to death and stuff!) but I never saw it. No offense to Jack Nicholson, but I always kind of laughed at his Joker and I'm afraid of clowns. Can't stand them. Watching this latest Batman movie though? Yeah, Heath Ledger reminded me why I don't like clowns. He made the Joker creepy and still managed to get a laugh out of me at things that I probably shouldn't laugh over, like killing a bus driver and a truck driver. It was easy to see why the Joker becomes such a huge enemy for Batman and I'm extremely happy that Christopher Nolan made it clear that they won't be recasting the role ever for this new series of Batman movies because I don't think the next person would be able to do it as well. So that's my opinion if anyone's interested.

Next up on things to see list: Mamma Mia! (What a switch right? LOL.) And I'm so going to try and drag other people to see The Dark Knight. Just so I can go see it again. Because I'm a nerd like that.

Hope things are going well with everyone else and hopefully I'll be able to catch up with a little of what's been going on with my f-list!

Okay, here we go, starting with the easy one first:

Ethics:
Analysis - 2 pages
Final paper - 2-3 pages

Civil War Lit:
Myth and Memory paper - 6-8 pages
Take Home Exam - who knows how long?

Senior Seminar:
Capital Punishment paper - 3 pages

Renaissance Poetry & Prose:
Research paper (Shakespeare sonnets) - 10 pages + working bibliography

Forensics:
Ballistics paper - 8 pages

That's the papers so far at least. I've got other stuff as well. Now, I better get started on these. Hmmm...I think I'll get Ethics out of the way. Wish me luck!

Ironically, the shorter papers are a pain in the butt. I almost always go over and have to cut stuff out. Bah.

Okay, so tomorrow, I'm heading home and as happy as I am to be going back (HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII RAVEN!!!!) - I'm also sad that it's over. (And HA! I already want to try and go to the con in Dallas so I can actually see Jared and Jensen together. For reals, you guys. And if not that one, I really want to try and save for the next Chicago one.)

Anyway! I'm already typing up a con report, though I'm waiting to post it until I know whether or not I'll be able to get the videos off of my roommate's camera and onto my computer because I got some good ones (and others would have been good but well, there were focusing problems - let's just say that the camera is one that focuses on its own and while I managed to get fairly clear ones of Jim, Sandy, and Alona - and some okay ones of the Roadhouse crew - today with Jared, people's heads kept getting in the way and the camera would then focus on their head or whatever and Jared would go blurry....but I'm keeping the videos anyway because you can hear him just fine! None of Gabe, sadly, because my batteries were practically dead because of the other videos by then.) and I want to share those as well.

So, yes, Jared is awesome, Sandy is adorable, Chad and Gabe are so funny, Jim is great, Samantha is nice and so willing to just BS, and Alona is sweet. And Steve was pretty cool, himself. :)

What does this mean? This means that the con report is going up before I work on my paper on Monday night even if it is due on Tuesday. *grins*

As for pictures....about two of mine came out good and so I'll look over those again. (That was my fault since I couldn't seem to figure out which flash I should use until the party on Saturday night and then, of course, when I used that flash for pictures of Jared during his Q & A, the pictures came out blurry. *facepalm* For the life of me, I still can't figure out why. Shaky hands? I DON'T KNOW!

But be expecting that. *nods* I don't actually know how many of you will want to read - especially since there's going to be quite a few other reports (and with WAY better quality of pictures and videos, lmao) but feel free to read it anyway! :D

Love!

Not an actual con report, just wanted to say that so far it's been a blast. The Q & A's have all been fun and I'm sitting by some awesome people. ^_^

And I totally thought of [personal profile] umbralillium and [personal profile] lunacat when Samantha Ferris (Ellen) was answering a question. For the pilot of Numb3rs, she apparently met Seth Green. And she was a total fangirl and dorked out because she said she has a crush on him. Hee!

Alona Tal is very sweet and she's funny and I really hope I didn't come out wonky looking in that photo op. *facepalm* Gabriel Tigerman (Andy) is funny and pretty damn cute. LOL. And? I got videos from Jim Beaver's Q & A and from the Q & A with the Roadhouse crew and from Sandy's as well. \o/ Which is probaby why the camera's batteries are already exhausted. Oops!

Anyway, I'll try to type more later - the Sandy photo op is in about 15 minutes and I'm betting that's going to be packed. So, I'm off! *waves*

And now...I'm going to kill some time with How I Met Your Mother, season 2. \o/

So, yeah, I'm supposed to be writing this paper for my terrorism class about Jihad - more specifically Jihad in Egypt (because that's the international terrorist group I picked) that's due at 8:30 in the morning and is supposed to be 6-8 pages.

I've written my name. *headdesk*

On the bright side, I've got my sources, it's just a matter of sifting through it all and picking out what's relevant and what's going to look like filler. Like this thing on the history? It goes back to the year 622. o_O Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? Uh, no, I don't need that much history. But thanks.

I think I'll look and see if the books are going to point me in the direction of relevant history.

Oh and I have to do all the citations in APA. *flails* I don't know APA! I've never had to do it! All my professors always want MLA! *may freak out*

......and I may have mostly made this post because I wanted to use this Buffy/Sam icon. Because Lani will tell me that Sam belongs to Faith only and probably use a Sam/Faith icon to reply and it'll be funny. :D

Also, I'm watching The Fog with Tom Welling and laughing. Because it calls for it. (Hey, I before I was watching Because I Said So in Spanish despite the fact that I pretty much couldn't understand it. *shrugs* No different than when my roommate decided watching the fourth HP in Spanish and I sat there with her....huh, we did that for one of the Star Wars movies too come to think of it.)
