Rating: PG
Challenge: Five Stages of Love
Stage: Romance
Summary: Harry's finally told Draco how he feels.
Disclaimer: They're not mine, I don't make any money from this. They belong to J.K. Rowling and I do this purely for the fun.
Author's Note: Well, I have to say that this wasn't exactly how I'd planned to write it but at this point, this is the closest these two are going to get to romance. It's a strange idea of romance, but hey. Anyway, enjoy and feedback's always welcome!

“Potter, you clearly need to be taken to St. Mungo’s. You’re too far gone for even Madame Pomfrey to help you.”

Harry fought the urge to roll his eyes or throw his hands up in the air. Or both. Instead he settled for making a sound of disgust.

“I should have known this was going to be useless. Here I am, confessing that I have actual feelings for you and all you can do is tell me I should be committed.” He snorted. “Well, at least you’re not laughing in my face, right?” Harry shook his head and turned to go. “Forget it.”

“Wait.”

Harry stopped and turned to find Malfoy studying him. “What do you want, Malfoy?” His voice sounded resigned, as if he were just waiting for the remarks to start coming and Draco frowned.

There was something in the way Potter stood that told him this wasn’t something that would ever come up again. Once he walked out that door, that was it. This conversation never happened. Unless Draco gave him a reason not to walk.

He didn’t answer right away, choosing instead to study Harry as if the answer were hidden somewhere on his face.

“Did you mean it?” he finally asked. Harry frowned.

“Did I mean what?”

Draco snorted. “What do you think, Potter?” He smirked. “I guess there’s a reason you didn’t get put into Ravenclaw, isn’t there?”

Harry glared at him for a moment before letting out a breath, wondering if it meant something was wrong with him since he didn’t seem able to stay mad when Malfoy insulted him now.

“No, actually this is one big prank and once I convince you to declare your undying love for me, I’m going to shatter all your hopes and dreams with a few well-timed remarks, put the conversation in a pensieve and then show it to all of Gryffindor for their viewing pleasure,” he deadpanned. “Yes, I meant it!”

After a moment, he nodded. “That would have been a pretty good plan, Potter. I suppose we could give it a chance.”

Harry stared at him for a moment. “Did you really just agree to go out with me based on a fake plan I made up to humiliate you?”

“Yeah.”

He shook his head in amusement as he looked at his…boyfriend? Future boyfriend? Date-type person? He wasn’t sure what he and Malfoy were yet, just that they were on their way to becoming something. “You’re strange, you know that?”

The look he got in return for that one clearly said that he was wrong. “I’m not strange, Potter. And even if I was, you’re the one that wants to go out with me, so what does that say about you?”

Harry grinned. “That I'm crazy? I’m not sure. I guess we’ll find out.”
