Logan doesn’t have many scars. Surprisingly, his skin is mostly smooth and unmarked.

This is why it’s such a surprise when Veronica finds one of those few scars, burned low on his back. She’s still for a moment, hesitant to do more than look at it. Just as he is about to say something, anything, to break the moment and draw her attention from that bit of puckered flesh, he feels the brush of her fingers.

She doesn’t stop there but continues to trace patterns all over his skin, moving up over his back until her hands come to rest on his shoulders.

When he turns to face her, he’s expecting to see pity in her eyes. He’s surprised when he finds none. Veronica doesn’t pity him; she understands that he doesn’t want that.

She doesn’t protest when his hands start moving over her and he smiles when she shivers.

“Soft,” he says softly and she smiles.

“I’ve been told I’m a marshmallow.”

It’s almost too easy. “Just waiting for someone to eat you?”

She laughs and any awkwardness there might have been is gone as they continue to explore each other’s bodies. Each touch is a new discovery. There’s a spot just below her ear that causes her to let out a breathy moan and she now knows how sensitive his neck is.

Later that night he wraps an arm around her when he feels her stirring.

“Stay.”

She hesitates for a moment and then leans back against him. “Okay.”
