Help! LJ's confusing!

blue_icy_roseOkay, I'm trying to change the colors for my LJ but I've never known how the heck to do the coding when it comes to that and I've always technically cheated. You know, I opened another window and went to the S1 customizations or whatever and then I'd click on the colors, get the code, and then copy and paste it?
Yeah, well, LJ changed the customizations page and I'm totally lost. Maybe I'm just making it more complicated than it needs to be? I don't know. All I know is I like the layout I have, I just want to use my new banner and change the colors to match and so I'd have to my layer and change the codes and compile and save and all that but I don't know the codes. *headdesk*
Help a technology-challenged girl out here? Someone? Anyone?

Edit: Okay, so I think that problem may be fixed if Raven pointed me in the right direction. Here's hoping!
