She’d changed. You only had to look at her to realize it. Veronica wasn’t the same pastel pink that she’d been last year. Her hair was short, edgy and her face was a mask.

Logan found himself watching her even as he taunted her. He knew what to say to make her cringe, to make her angry. He could probably tell anyone who asked what remark would make her cry.

“Veronica! So glad you could make it. Really, class hadn’t reached its whore quotient for the day. But here you are,” he declared with a smile, spreading his arms wide open. She didn’t respond, only sent him a stare that said he wasn’t worth the time or effort it would take to respond. He smirked.

It didn’t matter that she didn’t always respond. He knew her because he watched her.

Know thine enemy. It took on a whole new meaning when you were Logan Echolls and your enemy was your dead girlfriend’s best friend, Veronica Mars.
